The Flyers return home after a quick trip to Buffalo to complete their first back-to-back of the season. Tonight, welcome the LA Kings – winners of their last two games.
Sam Ersson, who is replacing the injured Carter Hart as the Flyers starting goalie, got his first win of the season last night in Buffalo. After struggling in his first three starts, Ersson made 21 saves on 22 Sabres shot in the in.
Tonight, Cal Petersen – recalled on Thursday – is expected to get the start in net against his former team. It will be Petersen’s first start in the NHL since November 29, 2022.
The Flyers and Kings will rematch next Saturday in Los Angeles.
On the season, the Flyers have been very good against Western Conference opponents – 3-2-1 in 6 games so far this season.
Sean Couturier, who missed last night’s game in Buffalo, is expected to miss tonight’s game as well. The Flyers announced before the game Couturier is out with “lower-body” injury and is “day-to-day”.
