Forward Trevor Zegras agreed to a new deal with the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday night, signing a four year extension worth $36.5 million. Emily Kaplan of ESPN was the first to report it.

Zegras will count $9.125 million against the cap through the 2032-33 season. There will be limited trade protection apart of the deal.

“We’re thrilled to have Trevor committed to our organization for the next four years,” said General Manager Daniel Briere. “The growth he showed this past season, proving that he is the skilled player he entered the league as, reinforced our belief that he will be an impact player for the Flyers for the years to come. He’s the type of player who can help take our team to the next level, and we’re excited to continue building alongside him.”

The 25 year old hybrid center and left winger was a restricted free agent after his contract expired after the season.

Philadelphia acquired the Bedford NY native from the Anaheim Ducks in an offseason trade last June. The Flyers sent Ryan Poehling and two picks, an 2nd and 4th round pick, in the deal with the Ducks.

The move to Philadelphia has been a breathe of fresh air for Zegras. He has been able to rediscover his game after struggling under former Ducks head coach Greg Cronin the previous two seasons.

In his first season in Philadelphia, it was a record one for Zegras.

He finished with 26 goals, a new career high, and 41 assists. His 67 points was also a new career high. It was third career 60 point season, his first since 2022-23.

In his six year NHL career, he has 93 goals & 160 assists in 349 career games.

For the majority of the season his success has come at left wing on a line with Christian Dvorak and Travis Konecny. After the trade deadline, though, Zegras moved to center.

While he struggled in the face-off dot, winning only 34.1%, his offensive play did not skip a beat. He found great chemistry with his new line-mate Owen Tippett.

It remains to be seen where he will play long-term in Philadelphia, either on the wing or at center.

Zegras joins a lengthy list Flyers signed through the 2028-29 season. Travis Konecny, Sean Couturier, Owen Tippett, Christian Dvorak, Noah Cates, Travis Sanheim, and Cam York are all signed for the next four seasons.
