The Flyers head to Buffalo to complete a home & home with the Sabres. Tonight, look to end a three game losing streak.
Sam Ersson, who replaced the injured Carter Hart on Wednesday, will get the start in net. Cal Petersen, who was recalled for the trip on Thursday, will back Ersson up.
Ersson, who will be relied on heavily in the absence of Hart, makes his fourth start of the season. Looking for his first win after posting a 0-2-1 record with 4.91 GAA & .763% in his first three starts.
On Wednesday, the Flyers fell to the Sabres 5-2 at the Wells Fargo Center. A game in which the score tells a different story then the game played.
The Flyers and Sabres were tied 2-2 headed into the 3rd period before Buffalo scored three times – two goals and an empty net goal.
Much like most of their recent losses, the Flyers stuck with and somewhat outplayed the Sabres. Finishing with a 40-15 shot advantage. But, were only able to muster just two goals.
“Thought we started slow again. Gathered ourselves and I felt pretty good hockey game from that point on,” John Tortorella said. “We had 11/12 scoring chances in a 60 minute game… just haven’t found a way the past couple of games to get by that number 2 goal.”
