With training camp beginning on Thursday, the Philadelphia Flyers have added another forward to the group. Signing Antoine Roussel to a professional tryout.
The 32-year-old LW was an unrestricted free agent after not being re-signed by the Arizona Coyotes.
Last season, Roussel finished with 4-goals & 4-assists in 53-games with the Coyotes.
Roussel is known as an agitator and brings more toughness to the Flyers locker-room. Which already has Nic Deslauriers & Zack MacEwen.
In his ten year NHL career, Roussel has 85-goals & 112-assists in 607-career games. Including scoring 4-goals & 5-assists in 36-career playoff games.
The addition of Roussel is seen more of a prove it / depth move by the Flyers. If Roussel can stick with the Flyers, it will be his fourth stop with an NHL team.
Roussel spent 6-years (413-games) with the Dallas Stars from 2012-2018. Then, 3-years (141-games) with the Vancouver Canucks from 2019-2021. And, last year (53-games) with the Arizona Coyotes.
Head coach John Tortorella has made it a priority for the Flyers to be a tougher team to play against. With another agitator in the fold, Tortorella is ensuring that promise is met.
