The Philadelphia Flyers head to Washington tonight for the latter half of their home-and-home, back-to-back with the Washington Capitals.

Last night, in Philadelphia, the Capitals took the opening game of the matchup. Beating the Flyers 4-1 backed by two shorthanded break-away goals by Washington.

Special teams are once again becoming an issue quickly for the Flyers. Well, half of them.

The penalty kill is continuing its success from last season. Killing off 16 of last 17 advantages (94.1%), including 10 straight – 5 of which were last night vs the Capitals. The power-play on the other hand, continues to struggle. Scoring just 1 goal on their last 14 opportunities (7.1%).

Tyson Foerster and Jett Luchanko, who both were healthy scratches last night, are expected back in the lineup tonight.

While John Tortorella didn’t commit to Ivan Fedotov starting when asked on Monday, Fedotov should make his third start of the season. On the season, Fedotov is 0-2-0 with 6.09 GAA & .818%.
