Philadelphia Flyers forward Tyson Foerster has just one goal thru the first five games of the season. A stat that the Flyers hope a healthy scratch last game will help jump start.

Tyson Foerster had just one goal thru his first 21 games last season. A slow start that didn’t tell the full story of his overall game.
Foerster, who won a spot in training camp last season, made the team not because of his goal scoring ability. Even though that is one of his strongest skills.
Instead, his defensive game was his calling card to the NHL. Something that his head coach John Tortorella appreciates.
“He’s been one of the most consistent players as far as his strength on the puck, as far as puck battles, stick on puck, retrieving pucks. He’s doing all the things that I thought we’d have to spend some time teaching and making sure he knows the importance of it,” John Tortorella said last season after a game about Foerster’s game. “I’m thrilled how he’s handled himself.”

Foerster’s first goal last season did not come until Game 16. An example that even with the goals not there, his play kept him in the lineup.
This season, his first goal came in the season opener. Which many believed was a the first of many in a potential breakout season for the second year pro.
However, after four games without a goal and his play slipping, Foerster was a healthy scratch in last nights 4-1 loss to the Capitals.
“Tyson just wasn’t playing well,” Tortorella said postgame about why Foerster wasn’t in the lineup.

Tonight, Tyson will return to the lineup for Bobby Brink.
Tortorella wouldn’t go into detail when asked pregame about what he whats to see from Foerster in his return. Well, expect a prudent “everything” after each question about him.
One thing that you could expect from Tyson is his return is to shoot the puck. Something that has fallen off over the past few games. Registering just 1 shot on goal in the last three games combined after having 4 shots on goal in each of the first two games.
