After an injury during training camp delayed his start to the season, another injury has ended his season. Philadelphia Flyers forward Tanner Laczynski season is over after successful surgery this morning.
Laczynski, who made his NHL debut on April 3rd, had played in 5-games with the Flyers so far this season. After trading Michael Raffl at the deadline, GM Chuck Fletcher said Laczynski would be with the team for the rest of the season.
Unfortunately, after an injury suffered last week, Laczynski’s season is now over.
Today, GM Chuck Fletcher announced Tanner Laczynski had successful surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right hip. Laczynski will miss 16-weeks and is expected to be full healthy before training camp starts in September.
In his first pro season, Laczynski finished with 6-goals & 4-assists with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. While also making his NHL debut with the Flyers & impressing the coaching staff in his 5-games played.
“Smart, two-way hockey player,’’ head coach Alain Vigneault said. “Can play more than one position. For him, I’m sure this was a great experience. We’ve got a young player we’re going to work with. Hopefully he can help us win some games moving forward.’’
York or Zamula Debut Coming?
Editor Note 12:16pm: Yegor Zamula will make his NHL debut tomorrow night vs the New Jersey Devils.
During his pregame availability yesterday, head coach Alain Vigneault announced Shayne Gostisbehere would be out for 7-10 days. A timeframe that could give the Flyers time to look at two young prospects.
“Focus right now is winning some games,” head coach Alain Vigneault said. “If we get the opportunity to look at a couple guys we’ll probably do that.”
Sam Morin, who entered for Gostisbehere on Sunday, struggled with his new partner Phil Myers. Postgame, Alain Vigneault did mention the bench was shortened at the request of defense coach Mike Yeo.
“Yeosy decided to shorten the bench a little bit,” Vigneault said postgame. “Had a couple guys in the back end there that had a hard time moving the puck.”
With the pair struggling & Morin playing just 11:26 in his return, could the debut of Cam York or Yegor Zamula come tomorrow?
