Since Rick Tocchet has questioned the Flyers will’s after last weekend’s sweep at home, the team has responded in the right way.

Today, it was a new wrinkle to responding.

After another lackluster first period, the Flyers took the game over in the second period.

Matvei Michkov would get it all started with a great individual effort along the boards to create a scoring opportunity. His third goal of the season came after out-muscling an Ottawa defender.

It was his second goal in as many games and his fifth point in his last six games.

The Flyers would then dominate the next 28+ minutes. Outshooting the Senators 11 to 1 , holding them without a shot for over 24 minutes, before tying the game mid-way through the third period.

Jamie Drysdale would be on the finishing end of the tying goal. His second of the season was setup by the hard work of Christian Dvorak, Trevor Zegras, and Owen Tippett.

The comeback would come up short as Ottawa would win it in overtime.

Samuel Ersson made his return to the lineup after missing the past week with a lower-body injury.

He was not tested too often, making just 12 saves. But, he made the saves necessary when called upon to get the Flyers a point.

Travis Konecny extended his point streak to seven games in the 2nd period on Michkov’s goal. He has four goals and five assists during his seven game point streak.

Carl Grundstrom made his Flyers debut after being recalled yesterday afternoon. In 11 games this season with the Phantoms, he had three goals and three assists.

The Flyers return to action on Wednesday night at Xfinity Mobile Arena when they host the Edmonton Oilers.
