On Saturday, the Philadelphia Flyers made a flurry of moves. Moves that look like to be to activate Phil Myers from injured-reserve before the Flyers faceoff against the Islanders tonight.
With the return of Shayne Gostisbehere on Tuesday, the Flyers needed a roster spot. A spot that came by moving Phil Myers to injured-reserve.
Now, with Myers ready to return, the Flyers are opening up a roster spot for his return.
With now three spots available on the active roster, the Flyers continue to play musical cap-space chairs with their taxi-squad. It was Nate Prosser & Connor Bunnaman on Thursday. Today, its Bunnaman & Sam Morin.
Connor Bunnaman, who has been the Flyers 4th center since the Morgan Frost injury, will be back in the lineup. But, is expected to have a new line-mate.
Sam Morin, who has been re-called multi-times this season, is expected to make his season debut.
Travis Konecny Benched?
Head coach Alain Vigneault did not hold back on Thursday about how his top two lines played. Complementing his bottom two lines not once but twice during his postgame press conference.
“Some performances in the first two periods were very disappointing,” Vigneault said.
This message seems to have led to the benching of the Flyers leading goal scorer & goal leader from last season Travis Konecny.
During morning skate, Konecny wasn’t removed from his power-play spot & was with the scratches post practice. If Konecny is benched, Vigneault is sending a direct message that he will not tolerate poor play from his top players this season.
Konecny has just one shot & one assist in his last three games.
