PHILADELPHIA – The Flyers scored three time in the second period in a come from behind win to take a 3-0 series lead over the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Trevor Zegras, Rasmus Ristolainen, and Nick Seeler each scored their first career playoff goals.
Zegras’ goal came on the power-play after a huge scrum resulted in Flyers getting the man advantage. Everyone on the ice received a penalty with Bryan Rust receiving an extra two minutes.
Ristolainen and Seeler scored 1:48 a couple minutes later. It was the third and fourth goals by a Flyers defenseman in the series.
Noah Cates first career playoff goal regained a two goal lead late in the third period. It was the Flyers second power-play goal of the night.
Sean Couturier, Trevor Zegras, Jamie Drysdale, and Noah Juulsen all finished the night with two points.
Owen Tippett iced it with the empty netter with 1:12 remaining. Tippett also had a game high 11 hits. Flyers outhit Pittsburgh 44 to 27.
Dan Vladar was spectacular once again in net, finishing the night with 28 saves.
After allowing the opening goal on the fifth shot, Vladar made 24 saves on the final 25 Penguin shots he faced. None bigger than the one on Sidney Crosby on the power-play late in the third period.
Matvei Michkov did not take a shift in the final 10 minutes of the third period after his penalty led to the Penguins second goal. He tackled a Penguin well after the whistle and given two minutes for roughing.
His status for Game 4 will be something to watch.
The Flyers look for the sweep on Saturday night at 8:00pm in Game 4 of the series.
