PHILADELPHIA – The brooms were out in Philadelphia, but they stayed in the closest as the Penguins forced Game 5.
It was a game of momentum swings as the Flyers tried to comeback from multiple goal deficits twice. Nothing materialized though to a game tying goal.
Denver Barkey scored his first career playoff goal in the second period. He tipped home a pass by Trevor Zergas into a wide open net.
It was Zegras’ fourth point of the series.
Travis Konecny got his first goal of the playoffs in the third period. Cutting the Penguins lead to 3-2 just 2:36 after Pittsburgh made it 3-1.
Konecny finished off what was a beautiful passing sequence that got better by the touch. Travis Sanheim started the tic-tac-toe play before Christian Dvorak fed Konecny for the goal.
The Flyers had their chances in the final 10 minutes to tie the game, but could not get one by Arturs Silovs. He made his first start of the series for the Penguins.
Dan Vladar was a little shaky in net for the Flyers. Finishing the night with just 16 saves on 19 shots.
His stick handling error two minutes into the second period costed the Flyers early momentum in the period.
The dreaded “four wins in a row” continue to plague the Flyers. While they have won six straight games, the playoffs start a new season and their win streak ends at three once again.
Game 5 in Monday night in Pittsburgh at 7:00pm.
