With their devastating loss yesterday to the Buffalo Sabres, it seems the Philadelphia Flyers are now in sell mode. One name that the Flyers have been rumored to be shopping is former #2 overall pick Nolan Patrick.
Could this be the end for Nolan Patrick in Philadelphia? Could the team that has the same General Manager who drafted Patrick in Brandon be interested?
According to Crossing Broad’s Anthony SanFilippo, that is a real strong possibility.
That same report was also shared by NHL Network Analyst Brian Lawton.
So, where there is smoke, is there fire? Yes… yes, there could very well be.
Nolan Patrick, who has 4-goals & 4-assists in 40-games this season, is struggling to regain his form after missing all of last season due to a migraine disorder. But, no one knows Patrick better than current Vegas GM Kelly McCrimmon. Who drafted Patrick in Brandon.
Another reason is cap space. With Vegas up against the cap, Patrick’s $875K cap hit will fit in easily with their limited cap space.
It is also not the first mention of Nolan Patrick being on the move.
Sportsnet Elliotte Friedman mentioned on his 31 Thoughts Podcast two weeks ago it was possible. Going as far to say the Flyers were shopping him hard.
The return wouldn’t be huge for the Flyers. But, a draft pick or two may get the job done. We will see. Just under 2:30 hours to the deadline.
