When the Philadelphia Flyers start training camp, one of the few battles will be for the 3rd line center. A battle that top prospect Morgan Frost will be very much in the mix for.
Since being drafted by the Flyers in 2017, Morgan Frost has steadily risen to the top of the Flyers prospect list.
“It’s exciting, I’ve had the same mindset the last couple camps now… I want to make the team,” Frost said about his expectations for camp. “If I have to take someones spot, Im going do that.”
After turning pro in 2019, Frost made quick work of his 1st stint with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Earning his 1st call-up after just 16-games in the AHL.
However, when it seems like Morgan Frost is ready to take the next step, he just can’t catch a break.
Last season, after the injury to Sean Couturier, Frost got his chance in the lineup. But, after taking a hit in his 2nd game, Frost injured his shoulder. Resulting in surgery & ending his season before it even started.
“I haven’t played a game in a very long time,” Frost said about getting back into game action on Saturday. “You can do scrimmages, but nothing compares to a real game against other opponents.”
The lone knock that has followed Morgan Frost since turning pro has been his size. Something that Frost worked hard on this offseason.
“I’m just over 190,” Frost said on Thursday. “The goal is going to try & stay at 190 through camp.”
With the bulk-up, Frost has the body & build of a NHL player. Something that will go a long way towards his success in the NHL.
