The Philadelphia Flyers ended a five game losing streak Thursday night at the Wells Fargo Center. Beating the Lightning 4-3 in a shootout.

The Flyers are statistically the worst team in the NHL this season in the 2nd period.
Entering tonight with a -32 goal differential, the Flyers have been on opposite end of some pretty lopsided 2nd periods. Giving up 84 goals in the middle 20-minutes this year.
However, tonight’s three goal 2nd period actually saw them on the upper hand. One that led to the Flyers taking a lead into the 3rd period for the first time in 8 games.
Bobby Brink’s second goal of the game and Ryan Poehling 5th of the season contributed to a 3-2 Flyers lead heading into the final frame.
It was the second straight game the Flyers have scored two goals in the period.
The lead, however, was quickly taken away from them early in the 3rd period by former Flyer Cam Atkinson.
Atkinson’s goal got the game to overtime and eventually a shootout.

Bobby Brink had just two points in his last seven games. Tonight, he had three points to lead all Flyers players.
Not on his usual line, Brink and his new line-mates had themselves a night in their first game together.
Brink, Ryan Poehling, and Olle Lycksell combined for all three Flyers goals. Two of which, were netted by Brink to take his season total to 10 goals.
The other was scored by Ryan Poehling. His 5th goal of the season ended a 12 game goal-less drought.
Olle Lycksell, the third member of the line, had two assists. He now has 3 points, all assists, in his last two games.
In total, the newly formed line combined for 3 goals and 4 assists against the Lightning.
Sean Couturier got the lone point, his 22nd assist of the season, other than the line.

+ Travis Konecny’s goal-less drought now stands at 10 games. It is the seventh season in his nine year NHL career in which a goal-less drought has reached double digits for Konecny.
+ Samuel Ersson’s recent up & down stretch continued. It was his fifth straight start. allowing three or more goals.
+ Rasmus Ristolainen did not play for the Flyers. John Tortorella told reporters this morning “Risto is banged up”. Egor Zamula rejoined the lineup for Ristolainen.
