The Philadelphia Flyers ended their 7 game home-stand with sixth loss. Shutout 5-0 by the Carolina Hurricanes.

It wasn’t the travel back from Winnipeg… It wasn’t the free pass because of the deadline… plain and simple, it was just bad hockey by the Flyers.
John Tortorella has been very pleased by his team not giving up late in the season. Even with the games not having much meaning.
However, tonight, for the fourth time in the seven game home-stand, the Flyers were just embarrassing to watch.
There was no effort… There was no pushback… it was just another dismal performance by the Flyers. Something that is become the norm as of late.
Entering tonight, the Flyers had been outscored 25-11 on the home-stand. That number grew greater in the wrong direction.
Carolina’s five goal performance was the fifth time in the seven game homes-stand the Flyers gave up four or more goals. In every game, they allowed at least three.
While it’s easy to pin on the lack of goal-tending the Flyers have gotten lately, most have been a direct result of the effort. Well, the lack there of one.

Nothing will get any easier for the Flyers over the last 15 games of the season. No one in the NHL is feeling bad for them.
On their five game road-trip, the Flyers will face four teams firmly in the playoff race. Three of which are considered to be Stanley Cup contenders.
Even with a poor home-stand, their effort on the road has been better this season. Which they will need to compete much better than the 1-5-1 homestand.
“We are not going to out-skill teams, we have to out-compete them,” an honest Nick Seeler said postgame.
Seeler, whose game doesn’t change even in the losses, led the Flyers with 6 blocked shots. The team in total blocked 31.
It was the 8th time this season Seeler has blocked 5+ shots in a game.

QUICK HITS…
+ Egor Zamula struggled for the second straight game since rejoining the lineup. Zamula was on the ice for the first two Hurricanes goals. Failing to pick up a Hurricane in-front on the second goal.
+ The power-play once again failed to produce pretty much anything tonight, none the less even coming close to a goal. Flyers finished the home-stand 0/17 on the man advantage. Goal-less in their last 8 games on the power-play.
+ Travis Konecny goal-less drought now stands at 11 games. Frustration started to boil over for Konecny late in the game after breaking a stick over the cross bar after being robbed in tight.
