The Philadelphia Flyers landed a potential huge top-six center Friday, selecting Jack Nesbitt with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2025 NHL draft.

From Windsor Spitfires of the OHL, Nesbitt finished with 25 G & 39 A in 65-games.

Nesbitt is a huge, 6’5″, center with a big frame. He plays a strong 200 foot game with great offensive skills.

His big rise up draft boards came late in the draft process. Standing out on the gold medal winning Team Canada U18 team. Finishing the tournament with 2 goals and 3 assists.

The 6’5″ 185lbs center finished as the #17 ranked prospect according to Bob Mckenzie.

The Flyers sent the Pittsburgh Penguins picks #22 & #31 to trade up to #12 to select Nesbitt.

“He’s a big, tall, strong center who looks like a man and yet still has room to get stronger. He’s also strong in the faceoff circle, reliable on and off the puck, with some of the complementary skills you look for in a bigger pivot, including good hands in tight and on tips and a willingness to battle, go to the net and then release into the corners to get pucks back and go to work on the cycle.” – Scott Wheeler , The Athletic

Nesbitt’s game reminds a lot of scouts of Jamie Benn. Big, defensive aware center with great hands.

Would not expect to see Nesbitt in Philadelphia anytime soon. Needs some much needed muscle added to his frame and could use a couple more years of development.

The Flyers have 7 picks remaining in the 2025 draft. Selecting next at #36 in the 2nd round.
