The Flyers look for revenge against the team, the New York Islanders, who eliminated them from the playoffs last season. After battling back to a Game7, the Islanders shutout the Flyers 4-0 to advance to the Eastern conference final.
“Excited for these two games, it’s not a great feeling when someone eliminates you from the playoffs,” Captain Claude Giroux said.
One thing the Flyers look to continue is help Carter Hart with good team defense. Something the Flyers did an extremely well of against the Islanders & the Canadiens in the playoffs. Last game vs the Devils, the Flyers blocked 16-shots. Their highest single game total this season.
Head coach Alain Vigneault did not hold back when asked about the teams 7-shot performance through two periods on Thursday. Vigneault sending a direct message to his team postgame, “some performances in the first two periods were very disappointing.”
The Flyers look to extend their win-streak to three games & end a four-game losing streak to the Islanders.
“Least thing you can do if Hartsy is standing on his head is get in-front shots,” Michael Raffl said after their 3-1 win on Thursday. “It’s a team game; if means to eat a puck, you are gonna eat it & have a bruise.”
