The Philadelphia Flyers continued their preseason with a 2-0 win over the New York Islanders Thursday night at the Wells Fargo Center.

With their first cuts of training camp having been made, the Flyers have formed two groups now in Voorhees. Groups that tell an obvious story… NHL or AHL.
The usual players you expect in the NHL are in the NHL group. However, there are three names that are a bit of a surprise. Two of which, were in the lineup tonight.
Jett Luchanko and Adam Ginning, both who have been standouts in camp so far, played in their second games of the preseason. Both enter the second week of training camp with a real shot at making the opening night roster.
While being held off the scoresheet, both Luchanko and Ginning once again passed the test of holding up to the NHL test.

Samuel Ersson Of Old
On the first day of training camp, John Tortorella admitted the Flyers ran Samuel Ersson into the ground over the final half of the season. Something that led to Ersson falling off his first half success.
Tonight, in his first preseason action, Ersson looked like his first half self. Which was needed to keep the Flyers in the game.
Ersson was attacking the shooter and aggressively cutting off angles. Something he struggled to do over the second half of the season.
The Flyers will rely heavily on Ersson this season to do much of what he did tonight.

Phantoms Top Line
Tonights forward lineup had a certain flair to it. A mix of potential NHL lines with the obvious top line of the Phantoms this season.
Oscar Eklind, Rodrigo Abols, and Anthony Richard skated as the Flyers 3rd line tonight. A line that could very well be the top line for the Phantoms this season.
The three, who all signed with the Flyers in the offseason, are seen as the obvious veteran call ups at the forward position as the season goes on.
While they didn’t find the back of the net, the trio was credited with six high danger shot opportunities.

Loose Pucks…
- Matvei Michkov made his Wells Fargo Center debut. In his second action of the preseason, Michkov skated with the same line mates – Owen Tippett & Morgan Frost – and finished the night with a goal and an assist in 16:36 of ice time.
- Erik Johnson, the oldest player in Flyers training camp, gave the Flyers a 1-0 early in the 3rd period. Slamming home a Cam York point shot on the rebound.
- Owen Tippett led the Flyers in shots on goal last season. With Matvei Michkov expected to be on his line to start the season, Tippett is poised for a big season. Tonight, Tippett once again led the Flyers in shots with five.
