The Flyers needed a big team effort to take down the Edmonton Oilers to start their road-trip. An effort that saw the Flyers walk out of Edmonton with a 5-3 win.

“Against a team like that, they’re super explosive and they can make plays out of nothing,” James van Riemsdyk said. “So you always have to be on your game defensively, and certainly the goaltender’s a big part of that. So he made a lot of big stops for us. And that was a big team effort.”

While the Oilers did make push after push after push to try and win the game. The Flyers met them at every push. Stopping the momentum immediately. Especially in the 3rd period.

“Our guys played hard,” Alain Vigneault said.

The Flyers started their 3-game western Canada swing with a big win last night in Edmonton. Tonight, the Flyers look to avenge their opening night loss to the Canucks.
