The first thing the Flyers must overcome tonight is the ability to bounce back. After a poor 1st period in Boston on Thursday night, the Flyers bounced back with a great 2nd period before playing their worst period of the season in the 3rd.
Defensive coverage & neutral zone transition continue to plague the Flyers. Even with the 3-1-1 start, if it wasn’t for the Flyers goal-tending in their three wins, the Flyers could very well be still looking for their first win of the season.
Being outshot in every game this season so far, the Flyers trouble with puck possession came to a head in the 3rd period on Thursday. The Bruins would fire 22-shots at Carter Hart. In regulation, the Flyers only had 21-shots.
The Flyers have not lost back-to-back regular season games since 1/04/20 – 1/07/20. In eight games after loses since, the Flyers are 8-0-0 & are outscoring teams 43 to 16. Including scoring three-goals or more in every game.
“We need to do a much better job supporting each other over the ice,” forward James van Riemsdyk said. “Everyone is doing their job-swarming the other team in their end and then when we get the puck back, being in good places to release pressure and get some sustained zone time.”
