At the 2021 World Junior Championships, the Philadelphia Flyers had three prospects participating in the championships. Three prospects that could very well be in the orange & black in a few years.
After Sweden’s loss to Finland in the quarterfinals, Flyers prospect, Emil Andrae, tournament came to an end. Andrae, who was a bright spot for Sweden, finished the tournament with no goals, 1-assist, & a team best +3 rating.
With their 4-3 semifinal win over Finland, Team USA will face Canada in the gold medal game. A matchup that will be a battle of the #1 seeds from each group during the round robin.
The Flyers have two prospects on Team USA. Forward prospect Bobby Brink & defense prospect Cam York.
Brink, who has been apart of Team USAs energizing 3rd line, has 2-goals, 4-assists, & a team best +8 rating. York, who is Team USAs captain, has 1-goal, 5-assists, & a +4 rating while averaging a team high 22:34 TOI.
The Gold Medal game is set for tomorrow night, January 5th, at 9:30pm against Team Canada & can be seen on the NHL Network.
As the World Junior comes to an end, the NHL season is just around the corner. It’s a fitting way to transition into the Flyers season with two of their top prospects competing for international gold.
