The Philadelphia Flyers lost their fifth straight game Thursday night at the Wells Fargo Center. Lose 4-3 to the Washington Capitals after blowing 3-2 lead in 3rd period.

Matvei Michkov thought he scored in the Flyers last home game. A goal that was eventually not allowed due to a goalie interference challenge.
Tonight, however, Michkov’s goal would count. Ending an 8-game goal-less drought.
His 15th goal of the season came on the break-away setup by a Travis Sanheim block. Who also sprung the 19 year old rookie up ice and in alone on Charlie Lindgren.
The opening goal capped off what was Michkov’s best period in a while.
Firing not only 3 shots on net, but also creating multiple scoring chances like he was doing a lot early on in the season.
Not to be out-done, his countrymen Alex Ovechkin would overshadow Michkov’s 1st period however. Getting one goal closer to Wayne Gretzky’s all-time goal scoring record. Scoring his 879 career goal.

In the 2nd period, however, Michkov would get the upper hand on the Great 8.
After Sean Couturier started the odd man rush up ice, Michkov’s vision slowed the rush down. Turning a 2v1 into a 4v2 for the Flyers.
Rodrigo Abols would be the last player to get into the zone to create the 4v2. He would also finish the play by slapping a pass back to Michkov for the goal.
The Flyers have not been a team to shot first on odd man rushes. Always seeming wanting to pass instead of taking the shot.
On a play started by the patience of the Flyers star rookie, it ended with a tap-in for his second goal of the game.
It was his third game this season with two goals.

Ivan Fedotov made 13 saves in the loss. His 11th time this season – 17 starts – giving up three or more goals.
Andrei Kuzmenko and Jakub Pelletier arrived in Philadelphia mid-way thru the 2nd period.
Kuzmenko and Pelletier paperwork was finally finalized yesterday and the two were making their way to Philadelphia. But, a cancelled flight this morning caused the two to miss one more game.
Both are expected in the lineup on Saturday.
