The Philadelphia Flyers thought they had one more game before the NHL Christmas break. However, after exiting the ice from their optional morning skate, things changed.
Before the Washington Capitals took the ice for their morning skate, news broke about possible covid-issues. Issues that have now led to tonight’s game being postponed.
The official press release from the NHL…
“The National Hockey League announced today that due to COVID-related issues affecting the Washington Capitals, tonight’s game at the Philadelphia Flyers has been postponed. A make-up date for the game has yet to be established.”
Per the Flyers press release…
All tickets for tonight’s game will be valid once a new date for the game is selected.
Alternatively, all ticket holders may exchange their tickets for another regular season game this season:
- Flyers season ticket members can exchange tickets for a different game through their online account.
- Single game ticket holders who purchased tickets through the Flyers will receive an email with instructions to exchange their tickets for a different game if they choose.
- Ticket holders who purchased tickets through a third party must handle any exchanges with that third party.
On Monday, the NHL & NHLPA agreed to a league wide stoppage after tonight’s action. A stoppage that was three days earlier then expected to due a league wide covid outbreak.
Thursday’s game in Pittsburgh, the Flyers last scheduled game before the Christmas break, had already been postponed.
With tonight’s postponement, the Flyers now have three-games to be made up. New York Islanders (H) – Washington Capitals (H) – Pittsburgh Penguins (A).
The Flyers enter the Christmas break with a 12-12-5 record. Will return to action on December 29th in Seattle when they take on the Seattle Kraken.
