The first thing the Flyers must overcome tonight is the possibility of a carryover effect. An effect that saw the Flyers implode in the final 8:26 of play on Wednesday.
Untimely & lazy penalties, three of which, led to three Bruins goals to fuel their comeback. Something that head coach Alain Vigneault said “is a lesson we’ll learn from”.
On the season, the Flyers have now given up 9-goals to the Bruins in the 3rd period in three games. In their other eight games, the Flyers have only given up 6-goals in the 3rd period.
Even with the Flyers being unable to solve the Bruins in the 3rd period, it’s not a concern. The same sediment shared by head coach Alain Vigneault, is also shared by his players. With James van Riemsdyk saying “we’ll learn a little bit from this one and we’ll be ready for the next one” when asked about their 3rd period implosion.
The Flyers lost back-to-back regular season games for the first time in over a year against the Bruins earlier this season. Tonight, they look to rebound & end a four-game losing streak to Boston.
“It wouldn’t matter who we would be playing the next game. It’s a tough loss,” head coach Alain Vigneault said. “We had a lead against a real good team and we permitted their power play to give them an opportunity to win the game, which they did. You got no time to feel sorry for yourself. You got to get right back at it. That’s what we’re going to do.”
