Brink Or Foerster? Flyers Trim Roster To 27

With just one preseason game left, a dress rehearsal of sorts as John Tortorella put it on Monday, the Philadelphia Flyers have begun to make their final cuts.

Today, the Flyers sent Ronnie Attard and Adam Ginning to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

Attard and Ginning both played in Monday nights game vs the Boston Bruins. A game where both showed promise on different sides of the ice.

In the 2nd period, Attard showed off his most dominant tool, his shot. Leading to a Flyers goal originally credited to Attard. But, was later credited to Joel Farabee.

Ginning showed off his most dominant tool – his passing – throughout the whole game. Making it easy for the Flyers to clear the zone and break-out with ease.

Both Attard and Ginning will now head to Lehigh Valley and be a big part of the Phantoms this season.

As of now, the Flyers now have 27 players left in camp – 16 forwards, 8 defenseman, 3 goalies.

Wade Allison 13th Forward

With Tanner Laczynski on waivers, forward Wade Allison looks to have won the 13th forward position.

Allison, who had his fair share of battles with John Tortorella last year, has been a standout this training camp. Making his presence known not so much on the scoresheet. But, doing the little things right on the ice.

One of the main issues Tortorella had with Allison last year was his constant east-west game. Tortorella wants his players playing north-south. Noting when you play east-west, it leads to mistakes.

Allison gives the Flyers flexibility on the wing with the ability to play the left or right side.

Bobby Brink Or Tyson Foerster?

The Flyers final roster cut is down to two players – Bobby Brink and Tyson Foerster.

Brink and Foerster have been battling over the past three weeks for the final top9 wing spot. A spot that was opened due to the offseason trade of Kevin Hayes.

Neither player has made it an easy decision on the Flyers. Brink has been an offensive standout while Foerster has been impressing with his 5v5 play and play away from the puck.

The two have one last chance to seal their spot tomorrow vs the New York Islanders.

Sam Ersson Wins Backup Job

Last season, Sam Ersson lost out on the Flyers backup position out of training camp due to Felix Sandstrom being waiver ineligible.

This year, Ersson has won the backup battle and will start the Flyers with the Flyers per head coach John Tortorella.

Felix Sandstrom may still make the roster as the Flyers find a way to get compensation or sneak him to the minors. But, Ersson will be Carter Hart’s backup this season.
