PHILADELPHIA – The Flyers have had no problem winning on the road the past month. Their seven straight wins away from home is their most since 2007.
On home ice, however, their struggles continue to halt their playoff push.
For the 11th time in their last 14 home games, the Flyers skated off with yet another loss. Tonight, 3-2, it was their second straight to the Columbus Blue Jackets.
They are being outscored 47-26 during those 14-games.
Sean Couturier gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead late in the 1st period. His 8th goal of the season gave came after he delivered a huge hit on Mason Marchment to keep the puck in the zone.
Columbus scored twice in the first 2:28 of the second period to take control of the game. The two goals came 1:44 apart.
Jamie Drysdale’s late goal in the third period made it 3-2 after Marchment scored early in the third period to make it 3-1 Blue Jackets.
It was his first goal in six games.
Dan Vladar didn’t have his best stuff tonight. But, kept the Flyers in the game with some huge saves down the stretch.
He allowed more than two goals for just the 13th time, 43 starts, this season. Finishing the night with 16 saves.
The Flyers didn’t lose much ground on the teams they are chasing for the playoffs. Montreal and Ottawa, other than Columbus, were the only two teams to win tonight.
The Flyers return to action on Thursday when they have the Chicago Blackhawks at 7:00pm.
