A big reinforcement, in the form of their top prospect, is headed to Philadelphia to help their push for the playoffs.

According to multiple sources, the Philadelphia Flyers are in the final stages of signing talented winger Porter Martone to a three-year, entry-level contract. The contract will be for max value available to 2026 draft class.

The deal will begin this season as he is set to join the Flyers later on today.

Martone signs his first NHL contract after Michigan States season came to a heartbreaking end yesterday against Wisconsin. His one and only year with the Spartans ended with 25 goals and 25 assists in 34 games.

His 25 goals were tied for second most in the NCAA.

While his efforts should have gotten him in the Hobey Baker Award conversation, he was not nominated for the award. However, his play at the World Juniors Championships helped Canada earn a bronze medal.

He led the tournament with six goals and finished with nine points in seven games.

Martone is expected to travel to Philadelphia later on today to sign his contract. There is a possibility he will also be in attendance tonight when the Flyers host the Dallas Stars at 7:00pm.

While he is not expected to debut tonight, that will be coming soon. Many expect his debut to come on Tuesday in Washington against the Capitals.

Martone was drafted 6th overall by Philadelphia in the first round of the 2025 NHL Draft.
