Flyers Stay Hot, Beat Ottawa 4-3

The Philadelphia Flyers extended their point streak to 5-games Saturday night at the Wells Fargo Center. Beating the Ottawa Senators 4-3 in overtime.

Lindblom would win a board battle & back-hand a pass to the slot. Where Claude Giroux would one-time the pass home for the opening goal.

After Travis Konecny kept the puck in the Ottawa zone, a streaking Lindblom off the Flyers bench would one-time Konecny’s pass home.

Ottawa would tie the game with two quick goals in the 2nd period. Tim Stutzle & Alex Formenton would score just 1:13 apart to tie the game.

In the 3rd period, Ottawa would take the lead with 6:17 left. Artem Zub’s point shot would make it through about 5-players in-front & past Martin Jones.

However, just 52-seconds later, the Flyers would tie the game. Joel Farabee’s pass would deflect off an Ottawa defender & past Anton Forsberg.

In overtime, Travis Sanheim would win it. Going bar-down off a feed from Cam Atkinson in-front.

Martin Jones stopped 28 of the 31 shots he faced in the win.

Claude Giroux Ties Bill Barber For 2nd All-Time

Flyers captain Claude Giroux reached another milestone tonight. Tying Bill Barber for 2nd for total points in Flyers history.

Giroux, who was playing in his 972th career game, opened the scoring for the Flyers tonight. Giroux’s 11th goal of the season was the point that tied Bill Barber.

In his Flyers career, Giroux has 284-goals & 599-assists.

Giroux needs one assist for 600 & one point to take over 2nd all-time by himself.

Game #400 For Ivan Provorov

Ivan Provorov reached another milestone for the Flyers. Playing in his 400th career game.

After being drafted 7th overall in 2015, Provorov made his NHL debut on October 14, 2016 at age 19.

Since making his debut in 2016, Provorov has 52-goals & 117-assists. Provorov has also never missed a game in the NHL. Tonight was also Provorov’s 400-straight NHL game.

In game #400, Provorov had an assist in 26:25 of ice-time.

Oskar Lindblom Returning To Form

When Mike Yeo was named interim head coach, one of his first moves was moving Oskar Lindblom back into Flyers top-six. A move that has jump-started Lindblom’s season.

In his first 21-games, Lindblom had just 1-assist on the season. An assist that came all the way back in game two.

Since his promotion, Lindblom has 2-goals & 1-assist in 5-games.

In his best game of the season so far, Lindblom had a goal & an assist in 17:21 of ice-time.

Point Streak Now At 5-Games

The Flyers had just 11-points (4-6-3) in the month of November. A month that saw the Flyers fall well out of playoff contention.

As a result of the bad month of November, the Flyers made a coaching change early in December. A change that now has the Flyers playing much better hockey.

After starting 0-2-0 under Mike Yeo, the Flyers have points in their last 5-games. A turn-around that has the Flyers matching their total of wins from the whole month of November.

In their last 5-games, the Flyers are 4-0-1 after their 4-3 win vs the Ottawa Senators tonight.
