In return, the Maple Leafs sent a 2027 1st round pick and Nikita Grebenkin, who is very close friends with Flyers forward Matvei Michkov.
The Flyers also sent a 4th round pick and a 6th round pick to complete the trade. While also retaining 50% of Laughton’s contract.

Danny Briere has been holding out for a 1st round pick for Laughton for the past two seasons.
His patience paid off with the Flyers finally getting a 1st round pick for Laughton as the main piece to the deal.
Nikita Grebenkin is also a key piece to this deal.
Grebenkin is a big, 6’3″ 207lbs, playmaking winger. His size and skill combination is something that fits well in the NHL style of play.
An 5th round pick in 2022 by the Maple Leafs, is in his first season in North America. Making the jump from the KHL last season.
He was marked in Toronto as their most NHL ready prospect. But, has been forced to the AHL due to Toronto’s wing depth at NHL level.

Grebenkin and Flyers rookie sensation Matvei Michkov are very close friends.
The two have never played together before. But, have been to multiple Team Russia youth camps together, where they became close friends.
Also, Grebenkin is one hell of a character.
Bob Mckenzie jokingly said on TSN TradeCentre he may drive John Tortorella nuts.
