Game Recaps

Flyers Doubled Up By The Sabres

The Philadelphia Flyers lost their second straight game Saturday night at the Wells Fargo Center. Losing to the Buffalo Sabres 6-3.

After a pregame ceremony to honor the great Steve Coates on his retirement, the hockey did not disappoint. Both the Flyers and Sabres traded shot for shot over the first five minutes of play.

Towards the end of the period, the Flyers would get on the board first.

Morgan Frost would give the Flyers a 1-0 lead with 3:25 left in the 1st period. Frost’s 17th goal of the season was his first of two goals on the night.

But, with just 9.3 seconds left, the Sabres would tie it. Kyle Okposo would outmuscle Morgan Frost in center ice. Leading to a 2v1 and the tying goal.

In the 2nd period, it would be all Sabres. Scoring three goals in the first 3:46 of the period. All three goals coming in a span of 2:21.

The Sabres would make it 5-1 late in the 2nd period. But, just 22 seconds later, Morgan Frost would score his 2nd goal of the night. His 18th of the season.

Travis Konecny would make it 5-3 in the 3rd period before Alex Tuch’s hat-trick shorthanded goal to make it 6-3.

Travis Konecny Makes His Return

After landing awkwardly on his shoulder in Calgary on February 20th, Travis Konecny was diagnosed with an upper-body injury. An injury that would keep Konecny out for the whole month of March.

But, after avoiding major injury and rehab, Konecny made his return to the Flyers lineup tonight.

During Konecny’s 16 game absence, the Flyers went 6-7-3.

In his return, Konecny had a goal in 21:54 of ice time.

Sean Couturier Done For Season

Sean Couturier has been rehabbing his way back from preseason back surgery and has rejoined his teammates recently for practice. Couturier has been ramping up his recovery in hopes of playing this season.

However, this morning, John Tortorella made it known that the Flyers medical staff has put an end to Couturier’s season. Saying it is a move for next season and not a setback.
