PHILADELPHIA: Travis Konecny, Trevor Zegras, and Bobby Brink all scored in a span of 59 seconds in the first period to fuel the Flyers to a 5-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres.
Konecny’s sixth of the season started the goal frenzy, ending a 11 game goal-less drought. Zegras’ 10th of the season came 38 seconds later before Brink seventh finished the goal outburst 21 seconds later.
It was the second time this season the Flyers have scored three goals in under a minute, a first in franchise history.
Konecny and Brink both had assists on later Flyers goals to finish the night with multi-point games.
Five Flyers finished with multi-point nights.
Travis Sanheim assisted on both of the first two goals, both coming on the power-play.
Matvei Michkov first assist of the night came on Konecny’s opening goal. His second assist came in the second period on Owen Tippett’s ninth goal of the season.
In his last 17 games, Michkov has 13 points – seven goals and six assists.
Noah Cates added to the Flyers lead early in the second period.
His sixth goal of the season was his second point of the night after assisting on Brink’s goal in the first period.
Samuel Ersson won his second straight start in net, finishing the night with 24 saves. In his last seven starts, he is 5-1-1.
Nikita Grebenkin started off his audition to replace the injured Tyson Foerster in a positive way.
His third assist of the season set up Brink’s goal. He took a hit to make the play to start the the passing sequence in the lead up to the goal.
Cam York left the game after the second period with undisclosed injury. York’s last shift was the scrum that ensured after Trevor Zegras was boarded by Rasmus Dahlin.
The Flyers return to action on Sunday when they host the Colorado Avalanche at 1:00pm.
