Unrestricted free agent C Ryan Poehling has signed a one-year, $1.4M deal with the Philadelphia Flyers according to sources.
The 24-year-old center was an unrestricted free agent after not being qualified by the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Last season, Poehling finished with 7-goals & 7-assists in 53-games with the Penguins.
Before last 2022-2023 season, Poehling – along with Jeff Petry – was traded to the Penguins from the Montreal Canadiens.
The former 1st round pick (25th overall) by the Canadiens in 2017 struggled to find a role on the Canadiens. Finishing his time in Montreal with just 13-goals & 9-assists in 84-games over four seasons.
In his five year NHL career, Poehling has 20-goals & 16-assists in 138-career games.

Poehling adds depth to the Flyers limited center depth at the moment. Will compete in training camp for one of the two bottom six center roles.
The signing of Poehling is a low risk high reward move by GM Danny Briere.
Whether or not Poehling sticks with the Flyers beyond this season, a 1-year deal a minimum value is worth it for the Flyers.
At the worst, the Flyers could turn Poehling into a mid-round draft pick at the deadline if Poehling has a good season with the Flyers.
