Flyers Collapse Late In 3rd Period

The Philadelphia Flyers dropped their 7th straight game Saturday night at the Wells Fargo Center. Losing to the New York Rangers 3-2.

After a slow start, an unfortunate staple for the Flyers at the moment, the Rangers would make the Flyers pay.

On the power-play, Mika Zibanejad would give the Rangers a 1-0 lead. Zibanejad’s 8th goal in his last 7-games vs the Flyers.

Just after the 10-minute mark, the Flyers would finally get their first shot on net. Shortly thereafter, the Flyers would tie the game.

Oskar Lindblom would put home a rebound off of Travis Konecny’s initial shot for his 5th goal of the season. In his last 15-games, Lindblom has 5-goals & 5-assists.

In the second period, it was much like the first period. Pure dominance by the Rangers in all three zones.

However, Carter Hart kept the game tied. Stopping all 12-Rangers shots fired his way during the middle 20-minutes.

With 9:49 left in the third period, the Flyers would take the lead.

Cam York’s shot from the point would squeak by Igor Shesterkin. The goal was set up by a great rush up-ice by Zack MacEwen.

However, the lead would not last. Just 47-seconds later, the Rangers would tie the game.

Filip Chytil would tap home the puck into a wide open net. Ryan Strome & Artemi Panarin would work the puck from behind the net to a wide-open Chytil in-front.

Just 2:42 later, the Rangers would take the lead.

Chris Kreider would deflect home an Adam Fox shot from the point. Kreider’s 24th goal of the season would be the game winner for the Rangers.

Carter Hart stopped 24 of the 27 shots he faced in the losing effort.

Cam York’s 1st Career NHL Goal

After getting his first career point vs the San Jose Sharks last Saturday, Cam York got another first out of the away tonight.

With 9:49 left in the 3rd period, York would score his first career NHL goal. A goal that, at the time, gave the Flyers a 2-1 lead.

York finished the night with a goal, 2-shots, & 3-blocks in 22:02 of ice time.

On the season, York has a goal & an assist in 5-games.

3rd Period Collapse

After Cam York gave the Flyers a 2-1 lead with 9:49 left in the 3rd period, the Flyers collapsed. A result of two unforced errors.

Travis Sanheim got caught at the point. Resulting in numbers below the dots for the Rangers. Which resulted in the first Rangers 3rd period goal.

Carter Hart, who was having a spectacular night, dropped his stick after Claude Giroux nudged it while tracking the puck behind the net.

Entering tonight, the Flyers were 7-1-2 when tied after the 2nd period. But, the New York Rangers, who were 10-0-2 when tied after the 2nd, just found a way by the struggling Flyers.

Rasmus Ristolainen Comes Off Covid List

After handling covid pretty cleanly earlier in the season, the Flyers were hit hard by the covid bug. Something that caused the postponement of another game.

The lone Flyers player left on the covid list was Rasmus Ristolainen.

Ristolainen exited the covid list this morning and was a full participant in the Flyers morning skate. But, did not play tonight after not feeling well enough, conditioning wise, to return.

On Monday, expect Ristolainen back in the lineup for the Flyers when they face-off vs the New York Islanders.
