The Philadelphia Flyers lost their second game in as many nights. Fall below .500 after 7-3 loss to the LA Kings.

Checking… puck battles… offense… three things that John Tortorella preaches on a nightly basis is the recipe for the Flyers success.
Once again, the line – Tyson Foerster, Noah Cates, and Bobby Brink – that Tortorella has stated has done it the best over the past few weeks, did it again tonight.
Noah Cates 4th goal of the season tied the game late in the 1st period.
His second goal in as many games came as a result by those three things that have been instilled in the Flyers 3rd line. A reason why the line has been one of the best, if not the best Flyers line over the past few weeks.
Bobby Brink did the checking, won his puck battle, and fed the puck to a wide open Cates in-front for the goal.
The trio have combined for 7 goals and 8 assists over the past 9 games.

Tyson Foerster scored twice in the 2nd period to tie and give the Flyers the lead.
His 7th and 8th goals of the season came by going to the dirty areas. Both coming right in-front of Kings goalie Darcy Kuemper.
The first was setup by Foerster’s checking right out of the penalty box. Starting a rush up ice with Scott Laughton, whose wrap-around attempt went right to Foerster’s stick for the goal.
The second was a perfect setup by Morgan Frost from behind the net shortly after the power-play expired. Frost feeding a slick on ice pass in-front to Foerster.
It was his second career three point night – 2 goals and 1 assist – of his career.
Over his last 10 games, he has 4 goals and 4 assists.

The Flyers roared back with three goals in the 2nd period. Coming back from one goal deficits twice.
But, the defensive breakdowns that have costed them so much over the past few games returned. Leading to five straight goals by the Kings.
The breakdowns were highlighted in the 3rd period.
For the fourth time in the past 6 games, the Flyers gave up a goal directly off a face-off. A goal that started a four goal 3rd period for the Kings.
The next breakdown let the rest of the air out of the balloon. To the disgust of John Tortorella I may add.
Emil Andrae whiffed and made no effort on a check inside the Flyers zone. Leading directly to a 2v1 and a goal. Andrae would sit for the next several minutes until the Kings made it 7-3.

Aleksei Kolosov made 21 saves in the 7-3 loss to the Kings.
Cam York was a healthy scratch after his benching last night in Detroit. A move that John Tortorella said was due to him just not playing well since returning from injury.
Emil Andrae returned to the lineup for York. Entering the lineup for the first time in four games.
He finished with 2 shots in 16:54 of ice time.
The Flyers fall to 14-15-4 on the season. Next up, the Columbus Blue Jackets Saturday night at the Wells Fargo Center at 7:00pm.
