Flyers Extend Home Win Streak Vs Jets To 9

The Philadelphia Flyers beat the Winnipeg Jets, 3-1, Tuesday night at the Wells Fargo Center. Extending their win streak to 9-games over the Jets in Philadelphia.

After their first win in over a month, the Flyers had something going for them entering a game. But, after just 48-seconds, they would be behind.

Cole Perfetti would make a perfect cross-ice pass to Kyle Connor. Who would one-time one by a sliding Carter Hart to give the Jets a 1-0 lead.

It would be pretty bland after that. With both teams struggling to find their games.

Early in the 2nd period, Winnipeg would find their legs first. Firing 8 of the first 9-shots of the period at Carter Hart.

However, Hart would stop them all. Flipping the momentum to the Flyers. Who would tie the game 9:18 left in the period.

Travis Konecny would wire a wrist shot high over Connor Hellebuyck glove for the goal. Konecny would find the loose puck after a great forecheck by Scott Laughton.

In the 3rd period, the Flyers needed to win a period to win the game. Something that has been hard over the past month.

But, tonight, they would find a win.

With 4:11 left in the game, James van Riemsdyk would give the Flyers the lead. van Riemsdyk would slap home a rebound into an empty net after a perfectly executed 2-on-1 with Scott Laughton.

Oskar Lindblom would score a 180-foot empty netter to ice the game.

Carter Hart stopped 32 of 33-shots he faced in the win.

Game #700 For Claude Giroux As Captain

Last season, Jake Voracek joked about you get length records because you are getting old. Tonight, Voracek’s good friend and former team-mate hit another milestone.

Playing in career game #985, Claude Giroux was also playing in his 700th career game as the captain of the Flyers.

As captain, Giroux has 210-goals & 440-assists.

In game #700, Giroux was a +1 in 20:56 of ice time. Including taking a hit to make a play to get the puck to Oskar Lindblom for the the empty net goal.

Carter Hart Outstanding

During the Flyers 13-game winless streak, the one bright spot was there goal-tending. Something that has not been one of the major issues all season.

Over his last 13-starts, Carter Hart has kept the Flyers afloat. Something that has gone unnoticed due to the winless skid.

However, tonight, in their first full 60-minute effort of the season, Hart shined even brighter.

After giving up the first goal on the first shot of the game, Hart was perfect. Stopping the next 32-shots faced. Including 15-shots in the 2nd period.

Winnipeg Win Streak Continues

The Flyers and Jets have had a very interesting matchup over the past 10-years. Ever since the Jets returned to Winnipeg in 2011.

In 23-games, the home team has won 17 of them. With the Jets winning just two of the lone 6-road team wins.

Since 2012, the Jets have not won in Philadelphia. Losing their last 8-games to the Flyers in Philadelphia.

Tonight, with the 3-1 win, the Flyers extended their win-streak against the Jets in Philadelphia to 9-games.
