On Wednesday, in a 6-3 rout of the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Flyers got off to a roaring start to their season. A win that showcased their well known depth. Getting even-strength goals from three of their four lines. Something the Flyers hope that continues throughout the season.
Tonight, the Flyers must not overlook the same Penguins team they routed on Wednesday. In a rematch of Wednesday nights opener, the two teams will do battle once again. The only lineup change is expected to come on the Pittsburgh defense.
The Flyers look to start 2-0-0 for the 2nd straight season. It would the first time since 1997-98 and 1998-99 seasons the Flyers started 2-0-0 in consecutive seasons.
“I think we capitalized on our chances. I still think there is a little more for our group to give,” forward Travis Konecny said. “We are going to get better and better. Outworking them and staying on teams. I definitely think when we got those chances, we made sure to capitalize. I think the couple of quick one’s kind of put them back on their heels. That was nice.”
