The Flyers entered the game scoreless in their last two games after being shutout by the New Jersey Devils and New York Islanders.
Minus the Scott Laughton empty net goal against the Devils last Monday, Garnet Hathaway was the last Flyer to score on a goalie. That was 157:11 of game time ago before today’s game.
Thru the first 40-minutes today, the Flyers had still yet to score. Increasing their goal-less drought to 160:15.
In the 3rd period, nothing ever materialized for the Flyers. Failing to find the back of the net for the third straight game.
While they did have their chances early, once again the Flyers got not solve the opposing net-minder.
Today, that net-minder was Mackenzie Blackwood, who has not allowed a goal in the last 122:39.

In their first game action since the Joel Farabee and Morgan Frost trade, the 1st period didn’t look any different.
The Flyers were the better team and really were controlling the play. Outshooting the Avalanche 10-6. But, were unable to find the back of the net.
Everything changed in the 2nd period however. Which, also has been normal lately as well.
After a good start to the period by the Flyers, the Avalanche took over after a huge save by Samuel Ersson on Martin Necas.
In the final 14-minutes of the period, the Avalanche would outshoot the Flyers 17-3 and score twice.
John Tortorella talks about momentum a lot with this team and how they need to learn to harness it. A prime example is what the Avalanche did in the 2nd period.
Normally, a big save like that should give the team making the save momentum. But, as the Flyers are still learning, a hard lesson was learned today after a great start.

Samuel Ersson made 30 saves in the losing effort. The score line says different, but Ersson kept this game close. Making a number of big saves to not let this one get out of hand.
Jacob Gaucher made his NHL debut for the Flyers.
Gaucher, who has worked his way from the ECHL to the NHL the past three seasons, was rewarded with an ELC in December. A month later, he found himself in the NHL.
In his debut, he played 8:08 and had 2 shots.
Next up, the Utah Hockey Club Tuesday night in Utah at 9:00 PM.
