In last night’s loss to the Montreal Canadiens, the Philadelphia Flyers dressed 11 forwards and 7 defensemen. A move that head coach John Tortorella has done a lot over the past few games.
But, last night was different. It wasn’t the normal 11 forwards and 7 defensemen.
Justin Braun, who has been the Flyers 7th defenseman for most of the season, did not play defense last night. Braun played right wing on the 4th line.
“I wanted to play Justin Braun at right wing,” John Tortorella said postgame. “I want to play Brauner. I just have not seen enough from Kieffer to keep him in the lineup.”
With Braun out of position and Kieffer Bellows out of rotation, John Tortorella is giving some else a shot.
Today, the Flyers will recall Elliot Desnoyers from the Phantoms. Densoyers is expected to make his NHL debut tonight vs the New Jersey Devils.
The Flyers 5th round pick in 2020 bursted onto the scene in his post draft year season with the Halifax Mooseheads. Doubling his goal totals from his draft season.
Desnoyers followed his break out season up with 42 goals & 46 assists the following year. Which lead to the 21 year old Desnoyers to turn pro.
In his first pro season with the Phantoms, Desnoyers has 19 goals & 17 assists in 46 games.
Travis Konecny To IR
Travis Konecny has been one of the lone bright spots this season for the Flyers. Shaking off a rough 2021-2022 season by excelling in John Tortorella’s system.
But, Konecny will now head to IR with an upper-body injury.
Last week in Calgary, Konecny got hit hard from behind by a Flames defenseman. Leading to Konecny falling awkwardly to the ice and landing off balance.
Konecny’s injury is believed to be his left shoulder. A second option is being sought to figure out the existent of his injury.
