Flyers Trade Into 2nd Round, Select Carson Bjarnason 51st Overall

The Philadelphia Flyers used one of their three 2nd round picks in 2024 to trade into the 2023 2nd round to select Carson Bjarnason with the 51st overall pick.

From the Brandon Wheat Kings, Bjarnason finished with a 21-19-5 record with 3.08 GAA & .900% in 47-games in Brandon.

Bjarnason joins a loaded goalie pool in Philadelphia. Which is headlined by current Flyers starter Carter Hart, who just happens to be Bjarnason’s favorite goalie to watch.

The 6’3″ 197lbs goalie finished as the #47th ranked prospect according to Bob McKenzie and was ranked the #1 goalie according to the NHL Central Scouting.

“Technically sound with a grounded personality, to go along with the size required by most teams, all makes him a late first-round pick.” Sam Cosentino – sportsnet.ca
