The Philadelphia Flyers beat the Washington Capitals 5-3 Wednesday night at the Wells Fargo Center. Their sixth win in their last seven games.
Scott Laughton started off the scoring for the Flyers with his first of three points. Laughton’s 10th of the season came just 13-seconds into the Flyers first power-play of the night.
Travis Konecny extended his point streak to ten games in the 1st period with the first of his three goals. It was Konecny’s 8th two-point game on his ten game point streak.
Owen Tippett registered his 8th two-point game of the season. Tippett scored his 13th of the season with a wicked wrist shot early in the 3rd period.
Carter Hart stopped 26 of 29 Capitals shots fired his way for his 12th win of the season.
Owen Tippett Overall Game On Full Display
One part of Owen Tippett’s game that does not get enough credit is his play outside of the offensive zone.
Tippett, who registered his 7th two-point of the season, has really taken to John Tortorella’s system. A system that allows him to create more opportunities outside of the offensive zone.
Tonight, Tippett was responsible for three Flyers power-plays. All of which came because of the freedom and confidence he has in his own zone and neutral zone.
The main part of Tippett’s game is obviously his offense. But, Tippett continues to show why his game is much more than just scoring for the Flyers.
Travis Konecny Extends Point Streak
Just 21-seconds after the Washington Capitals tied the game, Travis Konecny gave the Flyers the lead. Joel Farabee went hard in on the forecheck and found Konecny in-front.
Konecny’s 22nd goal of the season extended his point streak to 10-games. The longest active point streak in the NHL.
In the 3rd period, Konecny got his 23rd & 24th of the season for the hat trick.
