The swagger is back!
For the second straight game, the Flyers played their brand of hockey. A game that can be boring to watch sometimes, but its the style that wins them games.
After blocking 28 shots in Boston on Tuesday, the Flyers continued to get back to their shot blocking ways. Blocking 24 shots tonight against the Blues
Nick Seeler led the way with 6 shots blocked.
“I mean, obviously that’s the way we have to play,” Seeler said when asked about the shot blocking. “We have to outwork teams, have to block shots. We have to play, sometimes, play an ugly game.”
Garnet Hathaway would get the Flyers on the board first.
His first goal of the season was set up by Ryan Poehling, who created a 2v1 in tight by stick handling thru two Blues players.
The two celebrated how two guys would have a highlight reel goal… screaming in each other’s faces!
Everything was not all glory for Matvei Michkov in the 1st period though.

After his first shift of the game, John Tortorella met the Flyers rookie at the door of the bench with some anger.
Michkov shy’d away from a hit along the boards, turned the puck over, and then did not back-check on the play. Which, led to the meeting with Tortorella on the bench and him missing the next three shifts.
He did return to the Flyers top line after missing about 10-minutes in total. But, it was an opportunity for player and coach to have a learning and teaching moment.
“He’s a 19-year-old kid playing in the best league in the world,” John Tortorella said about Michkov. “He’s starting to see what that means. It’s telling him, This is how it works. He’ll be held accountable like any other player in that room.”
After the Blues tied the game shortly before the 10-minute mark of the 3rd period, Bobby Brink would get the game winner with 3:01 left.
His second goal of the season came after Scott Laughton kept the puck in the Blues zone. Then, started a tic-tac-toe goal with Joel Farabee who passed it to Brink in-front.

Samuel Ersson made 20 saves in the 2-1 win over the Blues. His fourth win of the season.
“I think you can kind of sense it, like when we’re blocking shots, when we’re doing the small things right,” Ersson said on the Flyers recent play. “You can kind of feel it on the bench and on the ice that we’re we’re rolling, and I think that gives us confidence.”
The Flyers Mom’s finished their two games with their sons with all four points. Will take home the bragging rights over the Dad’s who got three of four points last season.
Erik Johnson moved one game closer to the 1000-game milestone. Now just four games away after playing in career game #996 tonight against the team that drafted him 1st overall in 2006.
The Flyers improve to 4-6-1 on the season. Next up, the Boston Bruins Saturday afternoon at the Wells Fargo Center at 1:00pm.
