Flyers End Home Schedule On A High Note

The Philadelphia Flyers ended their home portion of their 2022-2023 schedule with a win. Beating the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-3 in overtime on Tuesday night.

 

 

The Flyers ended a seven game losing streak (0-6-1) with their overtime win over the Blue Jackets.

Carter Hart made 28 saves in the victory. It was Hart’s 22nd win of the season and his 15th at the Wells Fargo Center (15-11-4).

James van Riemsdyk scored career goal #300 in the 1st period. van Riemsdyk’s 12th goal of the season was his 146th career goal in a Flyers uniform.

Owen Tippett continues to add to his breakout season. Tippett’s 25th & 26th goals of the season were the Flyers final two goals. Including the game winner in overtime.

South Jersey native Johnny Gaudreau made his final return to the Wells Fargo Center for the 2022-2023 season. Gaudreau assisted on the Blue Jacket’s tying goal in the 3rd period.

Adam Ginning made his NHL debut after being rewarded for an impressive debut year in the AHL.

 

 

Career Goal #300 For James van Riemsdyk

In what could be his last game in a Flyers uniform at the Wells Fargo Center, James van Riemsdyk reached another milestone.

With 4:27 left in the 1st period, van Riemsdyk tied the game for the Flyers. His 12th goal of the season.

van Riemsdyk’s goal was his 300th career goal in the NHL.

If this was van Riemsdyk’s last goal in a Flyers uniform, it sure was a memorial one for the 14 year veteran.

 

 

Flyers Season Awards

As every season comes to an end, the Flyers conclude their home portion of their schedule with season ending awards. Six awards – ranging from MVP to most improved – are given out each season.

This season, the big winner was Carter Hart. Who took home three awards… Bobby Clarke Trophy (Team MVP), Gene Hart Memorial Award (Player who demonstrated the most “Heart”), and the Toyota Cup (Most star of the game points).

Ivan Provorov won his 4th Barry Ashbee Trophy for the most outstanding defenseman. Owen Tippett won the Pelle Lindbergh Memorial Trophy for most improved player. Justin Braun won the Yanick Dupre Class Guy Memorial Award for best character, dignity, & respect for the game on & off the ice.

In addition to the awards, the Flyers also announced Nick Seeler as their nominee for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy. An award given to the player for perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to the game of hockey.

 

 

Adam Ginning Makes His NHL Debut

Impressing in his first season in the AHL, Adam Ginning was rewarded for his hard work. Earning his first career callup. Leading to his NHL debut.

Ginning became the 14th Flyers player this season to make his NHL debut. In his debut, Ginning played 16:40 in his debut.
