The one thing the Flyers continue to look for is a steady defense unit. With the forward group finding their chemistry, the defense continues to struggle finding stability & chemistry. Especially whoever is paired with Ivan Provorov.
“Obviously, we haven’t found, in my estimation, the Nisky that was playing with Provy back there,” head coach Alain Vigneault said. “We’ve tried different people; need somebody to step up and play in that role.”
Over the first 23-games, Alain Vigneault has used multiple combinations for defensemen. Especially with Ivan Provorov. Who will have another partner tonight with Phil Myers expected to be a healthy scratch.
“He’s just not consistent,” head coach Alain Vigneault said. “We’ve given Phil some looks and he hasn’t taken advantage of it. He’s still a very young player. He has to push himself and demand more of himself. We expect him to be better than he’s shown so far.”
The Flyers enter tonight’s matchup vs Washington coming off their first comeback win of the season. Tonight, they look to avenge Sunday’s loss to the Capitals. Who have won four of their last five games in Philadelphia.
“By now, I’m comfortable with playing with whoever is on my right side,” defenseman Ivan Provorov said.
