The Philadelphia Flyers fear forward Tyson Foerster may miss training camp and the start of the season with an upper-body injury.

Tyson Foerster sustained an upper-body injury during the World Championships that caused an infection in his elbow area. An injury that caused Foerster to have something removed.

But, the infection is still present at the moment. Which, until fully gone, may force him to miss the start of the season.

Foerster, who signed a two year extension a month ago, is entering his third full season in the NHL.

The 23 year old forward just completed his third career pro season. Capping off an impressive season with his first appearance for Team Canada at the World Championships.

After 20 goals and 13 assists in his rookie season, he followed it up with 25 goals and 18 assists last season.

Foerster became the first Flyers player since Simon Gagne in 2000 & 2001 to score 20+ goals in his first two seasons in the NHL.

While the existent of the injury is still unknown, it is believed to be bad enough to miss significant time this offseason and possibly into the season.

There is still some hope that the injury isn’t as severe as some fear right now.

According to a team source, Tyson is currently seeing a specialist for the injury. Until more clarity is known on the exact injury, it is hard to tell the existent.

A second team source confirmed the injury Tuesday afternoon.

Even if the injury isn’t as severe, Foerster’s offseason will still be affected. He is expected to take a pause in his offseason training until the injury is fully healed.

Healthy has been something attached to Foerster to start his career. Missing just 6 games in this first two seasons. Playing 77 games in his rookie season and 81 games last season.

During the 2021-22 season, he did miss significant time do to a shoulder injury suffered with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Ultimately requiring surgery.

He missed over 30 games before being loaned back to the Barrie Colts to finish the season. Finishing with 6 goals and 5 assists in 13 games in Barrie.
