On the brink of elimination, the Flyers showed no fight or urgency. After playing their best period, which could have saved their season, the Flyers fall back into old habits.
“You guys saw we played really good in the second. We threw everything,” defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere said. “I think we had 25 shots or something. That’s the way we need to play all the time with that urgency.”
That urgency has been missing all season. Which is why, in the 3rd period, it disappeared like it has for most of the season. Like a switch flipped.
The Flyers failed to gain any ground over GM Chuck Fletcher’s make or break it timeframe. Tonight, with their season on the line, the Flyers face a season altering game.
“Just have to keep battling. We do a lot of stuff right, but we keep letting goals go in,” forward Oskar Lindblom said. “We just have to keep battling hard out there and smart out there. That’s the only thing we can do right now.”
