The Flyers depth was supposed to be their strong suit this season. Entering the season with one of, if not, the deepest team in the past decade. But, entering tonight, their depth is keeping them barely afloat with the injuries mounting up.
After losing Sean Couturier in Game 2, the Flyers lost Morgan Frost, who replaced Couturier, & Phil Myers on Tuesday vs the Sabres to injury. Both injuries will keep Frost & Myers out for an extended period of time.
With the Flyers now down two forwards & two defenseman, Shayne Gostisbehere is still out due to covid-19, the Flyers depth is at its limit. Mark Friedman enters as the last man on the 23-men opening night roster & Connor Bunnaman enters as the first man off the taxi-squad.
The Flyers look to extend their win streak to three in Boston.
“Injuries are part of the game. Somebody else is going to step in,” head coach Alain Vigneault said. “Somebody else is going to have to play well for us.”
