The Philadelphia Flyers lost their fifth straight game Saturday afternoon at the Wells Fargo Center.

Samuel Ersson made 9 saves on 13 shots before being pulled after the 1st period in the Flyers () loss to the Boston Bruins.

Three of the four goals allowed were not the fault of Ersson. More on the Flyers lackluster defensive performance in-front of him.

Cal Petersen, who replaced Ersson to start the 2nd period, allowed a goal on his first shot faced. But, made 12 saves on the remaining 13 shots fired his way.

Petersen saw his first NHL action since November 11th.

Philadelphia (25-19-6) is pointless in their last five games. Their longest streak of the season.

Tyson Foerster scored his 8th goal of the season in the 2nd period before scoring his 9th of the season in the 3rd period. His second two goal game this season.

Olle Lycksell assisted on Foerster’s second goal of the game. It was Lycksell’s second career point in the NHL. His first this season.

Boston scored four times in the final 5:51 of the 1st period. The four goals coming in a span of 4:14 of game time on six shots.

In the final ten minutes of the 1st period, the Bruins outshot the Flyers 12-3.

Former Flyer James van Riemsdyk sure made his return a memorable one. van Riemsdyk finished the day with a goal and an assist.

Tyson Foerster’s goal in the 2nd period ended the Flyers lengthy goal-less drought. It was the first Flyers goal in 114:41 of game time.

The Flyers now head to their bye week before returning to play after the All-Star Game next Saturday.
