The Philadelphia Flyers beat the Minnesota Wild 6-2 Thursday night at the Wells Fargo Center. Improve to 4-2-1 to start their season.
If it was not for a shoulder injury midway through the season last year, Travis Konecny may have scored 40 goals. But, Konecny settled for 31 goals in 66 games. Which still led the Flyers.
So far this season, Konecny is continuing to be the player the Flyers need him to be. A constant goal scoring threat.
With two 2-goal games already thru six games, Konecny is off to another hot start in the goal column. Adding his 6th goal of the season tonight against the Minnesota Wild.
In the 1st period, Konecny opened the scoring for the Flyers. A goal that emulated that constant goal scoring threat.
Konecny took a drop pass from Scott Laughton and ripped a wrist shot from the left dot to the back post. A shot that was perfectly placed in the top corner.
Bobby Brink 1st Career NHL Goal
The one Flyers player that has taken his opportunity and ran with it so far this season has been Bobby Brink.
Last week, against Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers, Brink got his first point in the NHL. Tonight, Brink scored his first career NHL goal.
If that wasn’t enough, Brink added another goal in the 3rd period off a great feed by Joel Farabee.
Emil Andrae To Phantoms
After playing just 14-minutes in Las Vegas on Tuesday, the Flyers made the decision to send down Emil Andrae to the Phantoms. A move that is strictly for playing time.
John Tortorella noted the Flyers want to see Andrae, Adam Ginning, Ronnie Attard, and Hans Gelge playing big minutes in the AHL. This resembled the players recalled in place of Andrae.
Louie Belpedio and Victor Mete, the two veteran defensemen on the Phantoms, were both recalled. A move to accomplish just why Andrae was sent to the Phantoms.
