Philadelphia Flyers forward Tyson Foerster has been out since December with an upper-body injury.

Originally labeled as month to month, his diagnosis quickly changed to out for the season after surgery was recommended. Which, the 24 year old forward chose to do.

Today, Foerster was spotted on the Flyers three game west road-trip. He skated with his Flyers teammates for the first time since his injury.

General manager Danny Briere kind of alluded to seeing Foerster in the coming week at his trade deadline press conference.

“He’s starting to skate and shoot pucks. So he’s trending in the right direction,” Briere said on Foerster’s recovery. “He’s going to push to get back earlier. So, we’ll see.”

Briere added, “I know he’s going to start knocking on my door soon to get back in the lineup earlier. He’s just that type of person.”

Today’s appearance with his teammates in Anaheim may actually be more than just hope too.

According to two sources, Foerster is ahead of schedule in his rehab and has been cleared for the next step in his recovery. One that will see him skating with his teammates a lot over last four weeks of season.

The Flyers have held firm on wanting Foerster to focus on getting 100% healthy and ready for next season. But, it’s hard not to see the fight from him wanting to get back this season.

So, is there a chance?

Well, once source said “never say never when it comes to Tyson.” Another source added, “when a player does everything right in a long rehab, its hard not to reward him if he has been cleared. Especially if there are games still to be played.”

As the games tick down and the more you see Foerster practice, that question will certainly need an answer at some point. One that may come with him returning to play at the end of this season.
