The one thing the Flyers must overcome tonight is their absence due to covid. Not just the time off, 10-days since their last game, but the absence of five forwards upfront.
Due to covid protocol, the Flyers will be missing three players from their top six. Which has led to some young Flyers getting their shot. But, the Flyers will rely heavily on their veterans. Especially Sean Couturier.
With Sean Couturier out of the lineup, the Flyers struggled on multiple levels. But, with Couturier now healthy, the Flyers will rely on him to lead them with five forwards on the covid list. Something that head coach Alain Vigneault referenced after Couturier returned in their last game. Calling him “a difference maker.”
The Flyers hope the luck of returning from covid continues. With each team, who has missed at least 8-days, winning in their return. Something the Rangers were on the losing end of on Tuesday vs the Devils.
“Whenever he (Couturier) is on the ice, type of player you don’t have to worry about bad things happening,” forward James van Riemsdyk said. “Always in the right spot & makes it hard for the other teams top players. Has that steadying presence with the way he plays.”
